Meeting about Jewish families from Mszana Dolna

On the 3th of June in the Mszana Dolna Municipal Library we told the inhabitants about Jewish families who once lived in Mszana Dolna - there were about one hundred of them! We recalled their contribution to the history, economy and culture of the town. We showed photographs and quoted the known history of some of the families. We also mentioned Christians of Jewish origin, who shared the fate of their brothers and also perished in the Holocaust. But we also showed the victory of life through the fate of descendants and showed photographs of the youngest descendants of Mszana Jews: Gaya Schliessenberg and Devora - the great-granddaughter of Dora Appel, nee Zins, who was named after her late great-grandmother. The meeting was held on Friday afternoon, so it began with the lighting of Shabbat candles. The participants were also treated to challah baked especially for this occasion.

The event was co-financed by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage within the framework of the National Center for Culture program: EtnoPolska. Edition 2022, realized with the financial support of the Malopolska Region. Public task co-financed from the budget of the Limanowa county. Grants acquisition: Marek Rekucki. Honorary patronage of the Mayor of Mszana Dolna, Anna Pękała.
