Cleaning work at the Jewish cementery

When it became possible and the weather had improved, at the turn of May and June we started cleaning up the matzevot in the Jewish cemetery to decipher them. We mowed some grass, collected rubbish and branches, and cleaned a few tombstones. We are very happy that the students of ZSTI in Mszana Dolna have joined the Shtetl Mszana Dolna team. For them, it was an opportunity to learn about the history of the city co-created by Jews, the rules of behavior in the Jewish cemetery and the symbolism of matzevot. Jolanta Kruszniewska, a PhD student at the Institute of Jewish Studies at the Jagiellonian University, helped us read the cleaned and photographed tombstones, for which we thank her very much. The effects of her work can be seen in the tab "Saved tombstones at the Jewish cemetery in Mszana Dolna"
