Project finale, promotion of a publication and a moving concert

On the 20th October 2025, during a meeting at the Municipal Library in Mszana Dolna, we summarised the fourth edition of our project ‘The Story of the Jewish Cemetery in Mszana Dolna’.

The event was combined with the promotion of a unique publication: a bilingual guide for young readers by Jakub Antosz-Rekucki and a moving concert by the outstanding violinist, Maria Sławek, PhD.

A short presentation highlighted the most important achievements of the four years of work on the project. It was also an opportunity to thank all those involved, especially the volunteers who take care of the historic necropolis. Above all, those who were most persistent and dedicated, were honoured. Special thanks are due to the pupils from the schools in the municipality of Mszaa Dolne: Primary School No. 2 in Mszana Górna and No. 1 in Kasina Wielka, as well as their teachers. Special recognition should be given to Headmistress Ewelina Płachczyńska-Struś, who regularly brings her pupils to help with the clean-up work, also involving her own children.

The second part featured the promotion of our publication about the Jewish cemetery, written by Jakub Antosz-Rekucki with illustrations by Magda Komenza-Regnard, combined with a discussion with the authors.

The evening ended with a virtuoso concert by the outstanding violinist, lecturer at the Academy of Music in Krakow, Maria Sławek, PhD. She came to Mszana Dolna with her own project, Po:miejsca (After:places), and presented works by composers such as Auerbach, Zdunik, Milstein, Bach, Ben-Haim and Wajnberg. Particularly moving was the final piece, her own composition, dedicated to the shadows and sounds of the Płaszów camp.

We would like to thank the numerous participants of the event, as well as the ladies from the Senior+ Club, who prepared the refreshments.

Co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage as part of the National Heritage Institute's programme – Together for Heritage. 2025.

The project was held under the honorary patronage of the Mayor of the City
