Letter from the Yad Vashem Institute

We have received a thank-you note from the Yad Vashem Institute in Jerusalem, for donating to the Institute a monograph on the Jewish cemetery in Mszana Dolna, published by our Shtetl Mszana Foundation. We donated it to Yad Vashem because of the important, first-ever study of the subject of the burial of dozens of previously uncommemorated Holocaust Victims in our cemetery. Urszula Antosz-Rekucka is the author of this chapter, about a special matzeva we erected in 2022 in the Jewish cemetery in Mszana Dolna. We are happy that in this way we also contributed to the sum of Holocaust research and the commemoration of more Victims. And here is the content of the letter: "We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for donating the book: 'The Jewish Cemetery in Mszana Dolna. The Yad Vashem Library contains the world's most extensive collection of publications relating to the Holocaust period and currently has over 180,000 titles in 70 languages. Our goal is to collect all published Holocaust materials, make them available to a wide range of readers and preserve them for future generations. The Yad Vashem Library's collection is not only a tremendous source of information about the Holocaust period, but also an attempt by humanity to come to grips with one of the most traumatic events in human history. The book will be kept in the Yad Vashem library and will be available to readers and researchers visiting our library. With best regards, Ruta Hershkowitz, Assistant Head of the Library Department at Yad Vashem 02-6443530."
We would like to remind you that the aforementioned monograph is the result of many months of teamwork in the project "The Story of the Jewish Cemetery in Mszana Dolna", and was published, in Polish-English version, last year, thanks to funding from the National Heritage Institute.
