"Jiskry" in Warsaw. This time, in this honorable role, we

"Yizkor in Jewish means memory, sparks light up the darkness. It's just like those people who, taking care of the remains, fragments of matzevot, abandoned objects, restore the memory of the former Jewish inhabitants of their towns. Among them are activists, enthusiasts, loners, rebels. They are united by persistence and concern. The idea behind the new #Jiskry program of the JCC Warsaw and the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute of Poland is to enable the Warsaw and Jewish communities to meet these amazing people." - This is what the organizers wrote about the Jiskra project, hosted by the JCC Warsaw on February 9, 2023. We feel honored to be among the "yiskier", that our activities on the care of memory and dialogue in Mszana Dolna, have been noticed and appreciated from theperspective of the capital.

The meeting took place in a packed audience at the JCC Warsaw headquarters, and was led by Ms. Joanna Fikus from the Jewish Historical Institute Association, which has already supported us financially twice: in the restoration of the monument to the Victims of the Mass Execution on Panski in 2022 and now, in our efforts to erect a plaque there with all the names of the murdered.

We talked about our work on restoring the memory of the Jewish citizens of our city, and answered questions from those who came. At the end, an important thing happened: young people associated with the JCC Warsaw, presented a poster, found by chance, from a play prepared by the Limanowa Jewish Drama Circle, which was to be presented in Mszana Dolna, in the watchtower building in 1939! This shows how lively and rich Jewish cultural life was in our area! After the restoration of the find, we were promised a decent scan of the poster.

We would like to thank the JCC Warsaw and the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute of Poland for the invitation, and to the numerous attendees - with Mr. Marian Turski, Piotr Puchta, Director of FODZ, Piotr Wiślicki, representatives of the Forum for Dialogue, the Polish Council of Christians and Jews, Maciej Kozlowski, former Polish ambassador to Israel, Alina Swidowska - daughter of Adina Blady-Szwajger and other second generation survivors, all those who were willing to come on that cold February evening to listen to our concern for the memory in Mszana - our sincere thanks!

"It's good to feed on faith in people and their power to change the world for the better. An opportunity to do so is the JISKRY series, which we carry out together with the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute in Poland. Upcoming JISKRY: MEETING WITH THE REKUCKY FAMILY" - announced by the JCC in Warsaw.
