Humanitarian aid for Ukraine from our Shtetl Mszana Dolna Foundation

For the third time since Ukraine was brutally attacked by Russia, our foundation organized a campaign to help its people. On 1.04.2023 our vice-president Marek Rekucki, together with Mr. Tomasz Petrycki - who provided his car for transport, for which we sincerely thank him - delivered to the site, to Grodek Jagiellonskiy near Lviv, gifts collected jointly with the Caritas circle, which at the Complex of Technical and Information Schools in Mszana Dolna, is led by our president, Urszula Antosz-Rekucka.
There, the Pallottine sisters will distribute them to those in need: our poor compatriots, the families of refugees who have taken refuge in this safer part of Ukraine, and will also prepare packages for soldiers at the front. Thanks to the collection of food products and cleaning products, as well as contributions to our foundation's account, we have flown to Ukraine: 60 kg of groats and rice, 14 kg of chocolates and other sweets (260 pieces), 60 kg of canned meat (250 pieces) and 40 kg of fresh cold cuts, canned fish 150 pieces. (about 25 kg), vegetable 30. In addition, 85 kg of pasta (180 pcs.), 140 op. teas, 100 op. of coffee (about 30 kg). Cocoa, flakes, nuts, powdered and cubed soups, puddings, kisiels, spices - 500 pcs. Plus salt, sugar, flour. 150 op. of cleaning products: soaps, washing powder, toothpaste, washing and cleaning liquids. Underwear. Toys for children.
The value of the donated aid is about 10 thousand zlotys. From contributions to our account we had 1570 PLN for purchases, at charity auctions we raised 500 PLN for this purpose, our Foundation also contributed about 1000 PLN. The rest was in-kind donations from many people of good will, for which we bow low! As a result, a full truckload of products went to Grodek, and together we managed to create at least a substitute for good in this difficult time for everyone, especially in Ukraine. Thank you! Thanks from Grodek Jagiellonskiy are attached in the gallery.
Gródek Jagiellonskiy, located near Lviv, has an interesting multicultural history. King Wladyslaw Jagiello died here in 1434, his body was transported to Krakow, but his heart remained in the local Franciscan church. There had been a Jewish community in Gródek since the 15th century, and it had a beautiful synagogue, Bet HaMidrash and a well-known yeshiva with a valuable collection of books. There was a large concentration of Hasidim associated with the Belsk dynasty. Only 20 Jewish residents survived the war, the rest perished in Belzec, mass executions and pogroms. Remnants of matzevot and murder sites remain from the rich Jewish life in Gródek
