We received a grant for the renovation of the monument to the Holocaust Victims at Pańskie!

Wonderful news: due to efforts of our team, especially our Vice-President, Marek Rekucki, we received a grant of PLN 7,000 from Stowarzyszenie Żydowski Instytut Historyczny (the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute) for the renovation of the monument at the mass grave of Jews at Pańskie! Designed and built by Jakub Weissberger with money from the sale of a family house at Piłsudski street, the tombstone of at least 881 victims requires urgent renovation. We are trying to raise funds to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Holocaust in August 2022 in decent conditions. We collected a part of the necessary amount, another was donated by the descendants of the Victims. Co-financing from the J. Jagielski's Grant Committee brings us significantly closer to the implementation of our plans. The cost of replacing the outer part of the monument was initially estimated by a specialist stonemason at PLN 21,300, and this is only a part of the necessary work. The exact burial place of the Victims still needs to be marked and properly protected - so far this has not been done. We believe, however, that we will do so together to honor the memory of our former co-inhabitants
