International Holocaust Remembrance Day in Mszana Dolna

On the eve of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, 26.01.2025, we gathered at 3 of their resting places in our town. The majority of the Victims, coming from Mszana Dolna, died here, in mass and individual executions. Only a dozen or so Jews connected to Mszana Dolna were murdered in the extermination camps, as well as a small community of Mszana Roma people. In total, we estimate the number of those murdered at around 1,200 people.
We paid tribute to them by lighting memorial lights, laying pebbles, reciting Psalms and El mole rachmim (God full of mercy) on their graves.
The presence of the Mayor, Agnieszka Orzeł, and a delegation of scouts from the Gorce Scout Troop was extremely important.
We bow low to all those who, on this special Sunday, gave their time so that the memory of those who were once our neighbours would last and their martyrdom would not be forgotten!
We are also grateful to Mr. Aron Halberstam, thanks to whom another face of a Holocaust victim, Wanda Gutter from Krakow, was restored. She was only 20 years old when she was murdered in Mszana Dolna. She rests in a grave on Ogrodowa Street
