Grant from Limanowa County for restoration of matzevot in our Jewish cemetery

We have received a grant - admittedly symbolic, but nevertheless - from the Limanowa County for the renovation of tombstones. The amount granted is in fact not much more than the renovation of a single matzeva, but to have a renovated historical tombstone or not to have one at all makes a big difference! So we are grateful, because this is another step, another history saved, the only trace of a human who once lived on our land, rested in it and should be remembered here.
Let us explain that the direct cost of the restoration of one matzevah is about 7 thousand PLN. The additional and administrative costs, must be estimated at about 20 per cent of this amount, so we need about 8,400 PLN to finalise the renovation of just one tombstone.
We applied for funding for five tombstones, hence the letter mentions such a number, but the renovation of five historic tombstones is a cost many times higher, estimated at 42 000 PLN.
However, we welcome any opportunity to continue work on saving our historic necropolis. By the way, we are the only beneficiary here applying for a grant to save Jewish monuments; the vast majority are Catholic parishes and so are the cemeteries in our Jewish cemetery.
