At the Jewish cemetery with a group of writers from Greater Poland
In the early afternoon of 27 June 2025, we had the pleasure of hosting a group from the Wielkopolska (Greater Poland) Writers' Association, who came to our town for Poetlandia – the 2nd Poetry Meetings in Mszana Dolna.
We are glad that among the numerous and interesting events, they found the time and desire to learn about the history of the Jews of Mszana and one of the few preserved places that tell the story of their long life in our town: the cemetery on Zakopiańska Street.
After a brief introduction on the subject of nomenclature, rules of conduct, types of tombstones and ways of commemorating the deceased, we paid the respect at the mass grave of the victims of the occupation.
Participants had the opportunity to compare the condition of neglected and newly renovated matzevot, placed pebbles of remembrance in places of their choice, and listened to stories about those who once shared this beautiful place of residence with us.
We would like to thank Ms Danuta Zasada for organising the meeting – we are always happy to welcome new people who are interested in history and our work.
